Sizes are in feet, width by depth. Furniture and how you pack vary, so treat the estimate as a starting point and look at the unit before you sign. We do not show prices here: rates change often and differ by door.

Find a facility with that size

Before you pick a size

  • Measure your biggest pieces: sofas, mattresses, dressers. A unit’s door is narrower than the unit.
  • Plan an aisle if you will need to reach things while they are stored. If not, pack to the ceiling and fill the back first.
  • If you are storing for a move or a sale, ask the facility about moving up or down a size later. Many let you transfer.

Not sure the estimate fits your furniture? Look at the unit before you sign, or ask the facility to show you two sizes. Then use the facility matcher to see who lists that size.

Questions

What size storage unit do I need for a 2-bedroom?

The published guides disagree. SpareFoot's text says a 10×10 holds two bedrooms plus a family room and a 10×15 holds a two- or three-bedroom house. U-Haul says a 10×10 fits about three rooms and a 10×15 about four. For a full 2-bedroom home with appliances, a 10×15 is the safer choice. A sparsely furnished 2-bedroom apartment may fit in a 10×10.
